TIGERS MAGAZINE - 2002 Season - Issue No.3
Ramon Santiago was born August 31st, 1979, and is a Virgo: modest, humble, relied upon, efficient, and thoroughly involved in work Ramon’s contract was recently purchased by the Tigers from Triple-A Toledo on May 17th, 2002. Previously he hit .429 with the Triple-A Mud Hens and .280 with Double-A Erie. Clearly he’s honing his skill!
Virgos take great pride in a job well done and strive for expertise in a specialized area. Rather appropriately, becoming a switch-hitting shortstop fits Ramon’s bill perfectly. Virgos are self-critical and scrupulously honest in their own estimation, often not rewarding themselves enough praise or credit. With a penchant for order and precision, Ramon can be one demanding perfectionist.
With Mercury in Leo, Ramon’s views are expressed dramatically. With the moon in philosophical Sagittarius, he’s adventurous and free-spirited. An optimist as heart, he appreciates those who encourage aspirations and ideals. Planets in inspirational fire signs strike a skillful balance between work and play. He has a powerful will, and chooses to pursue desires relentlessly. In fact Ramon may be so passionately driven that his objectivity’s sometimes lost, resulting in intense power struggles.
Dynamic, decisive, and somewhat impulsive, Ramon responds quickly to challenges, Physical activities that require fast reflexes and sense of timing come naturally to him. Ramon’s blessed with tailor-made qualities for switch-hitting. He also makes a good leader, spearheading new projects and inspiring others to act.
The willingness to work hard to achieve objectives strengthens
Ramon Santiago’s resolve. Choosing practical, realistic goals,
he pursues things step-by-step, in well-planned, orderly ways. A
wonderful sense of drama helps enliven things, to truly showcase
Ramon’s bold, heroic side.
Another conscientious and self-disciplined Virgo, you can count on outfielder George Lombard with his cool, contained soul, and helpful nature. With Mars in the mix, he’s direct, energetic, and at times combative. Often feeling the need to fight for what he wants, he gets hasty, restless, impatient—football was an earlier calling! George believes strongly in the ability to shape life though initiative and effort. A fierce individualist, the more he trusts himself the better. The joy of winning runs deep in his psyche. Fairness is essential; one of his greatest assets is to see both sides of an issue.
Enabling him to act with confidence, George has the support of family for pursuing goals. Notably interested in his past, his roots can be traced back to the Mayflower, on his mother’s side. George’s personal history is a fascinating blend. His mother Posey, was a civil rights worker who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King. Andrew Young spoke at her funeral. Primarily raised in Georgia, Lombard spent time in Massachusetts where his grandfather was a Dean at Harvard Business School.
Serious and responsible, Lombard attempts to carry the world on
his shoulders, rarely letting others know when support is needed.
With Mars in Gemini, George is a busy bee—energetic, restless,
forever on the go. “I wasn’t a die hard sports fan growing
up, he said, “I was involved in sports, and I grew up playing
sports, but I just liked being involved in things.” The baseball
life is a good fit, with his nervous energy and craving for variety.
Living at such a hectic pace, George finds it difficult to relax
and replenish. With a powerful Mars cycle currently transpiring,
ambitions are intensified. Coupled with a strong drive to win, Manager
Luis Pujols said of Lombard, “We’re going to find ways
to get him in the line-up.” Sounds like a plan for success!
