A PERFECT TRIFECTA OF BASEBALL, ASTROLOGY AND THE GRATEFUL DEAD On the New Moon in dramatic Leo on August 9, 2010, The San Francisco Giants held Jerry Garcia Grateful Dead Tribute Night. It was a huge success. Although Jerry Garcia is no longer with us, his spirit lives on and the Giants immortalized him in an awesome Jerry Garcia bobblehead. Garcia and the Grateful Dead are synonymous with San Francisco and each year the City celebrates "the days between" - the days from creative Leo Garcia's birthday (August 1) and the day of his passing (August 9). San Francisco's 'Dead Heads' and baseball fans alike gathered at AT&T Park to pay homage to Jerry Garcia on the 15th anniversary of his passing. What an unforgettable night! All fans attending the game were treated to pre-game, live musical performances from some of San Francisco's most popular Jerry Garcia and Grateful Dead cover bands including "Cryptical"and a home plate ceremony featuring a video tribute to Garcia with many of his family members in attendance. Garcia's daughter, Annabelle Garcia, threw out the ceremonial first pitch, Grateful Dead member Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Jeff Pehrson from Further, performed the National Anthem and Grateful Dead's Mickey Hart lead fans in a special 7th Inning Stretch celebration. In an attempt to set an official Guinness World Record for the world's largest kazoo ensemble, Hart lead more than 7,000 kazoo playing fans in "Take Me Out to the Ball. And, the Giants won the game in a chilly extra innings battle vs. the Chicago Cubs. Good karma from the spirit world.
